Mum with sick child

Having a warm, dry, and healthy home supports the health and wellbeing of whānau, which benefits the whole community.

Charitable trust Whaiora is the Healthy Homes Initiative provider in Wairarapa. The Healthy Homes Initiative aims to help empower whānau living in energy hardship and increase the number of whānau living in warm, dry, healthy and safe homes.

Unfortunately, not everyone is eligible for the initiative. So, through Powerco’s support, Whaiora will share information and a range of resources to the wider community at Energy Efficiency workshops in Masterton and Featherston ahead of winter.

“A warmer, drier home is easier and more cost-effective to heat, reduces mould and housing-related illness, and is beneficial to our overall health and wellbeing,” says Healthy Homes Initiative Lead Michelle Bird.

“Our workshops are an opportunity to share knowledge and resources with whānau supporting them to more effectively operate their whare, creating a healthy home, and giving them the tools to self-manage their own home environment.”

We’re proud to support this important initiative.
