Safety First At Avocado Conference

Monday, September 09, 2013

Safety will be the message when Powerco exhibits at the New Zealand and Australian Avocado Growers' Conference in Tauranga this week.

Powerco is attending the event to reinforce the “4m danger zone” safety message.  When working and using equipment in and around avocado orchards, it is important to stay 4 metres away from power lines to avoid possible electrocution.

As part of the exhibit, people will be asked a three question survey – how far people, plants and equipment should be from power lines.

On display will be 4m danger zone posters illustrating the right and wrong safety distances.

About 400 people are expected to attend the two day conference.  See for more information about the conference.
