Powerco Safety Messages with a Teenage Twist

Powerco is asking high school students to put their own twist on important safety messages for the chance to win cash prizes for themselves and their school.

The company is running a catchphrase competition for high schools in its network area, which covers the lower and central North Island.

The student with the best safety slogan will win $2000, plus their school will receive $3000. The teacher who puts in the most effort promoting the safety competition will get $500.

Powerco Corporate Affairs Manager Neil Holdom said the company wanted to engage with young people around network safety.

“This is a great way for students to learn about keeping safe around our gas and electricity networks. We’re looking forward to seeing the slogans they come up with.”

He said the best catchphrases will be used in Powerco’s public safety campaign (Powercare).

“Safety is Powerco’s top priority and this competition is part of a wider public safety campaign.”

The competition will run over February, March and April, and winners announced early May.

To enter, students will need to view the safety section on Powerco’s website and come up with clever phrases that capture our safety messages. Or they can be innovative and come up with your own.
